Corporate Social Responsibility
Our Leadership
An Incorporated Civil Engineer and alumnus of the University of Moratuwa, Mr. Channa Wijesekara is one of Sri Lanka’s foremost Wood Technologists with over 40 years of experience in the wood and interior industry.
Mr. Wijesekara’s international training in Germany, Thailand, and the Philippines strengthened his expertise in wood technology, educational administration, and industrial development.
As the President of the Wood-Based Industrialists Association of Sri Lanka (WBIA) and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on the Wood and Wood Based Industry Sector of the Ministry of Industries, he has shaped the nation’s furniture and woodworking landscape through leadership, innovation, and education integrating eco-conscious practices and modern precision to meet global standards.
Our Chairman has served as the member of the governing councils of several institutions in the fields of vocational education and engineering profession and playing a key role in shaping vocational education and the engineering profession in Sri Lanka. He was a founding member of the Engineering Council of Sri Lanka (ECSL), Board Member of the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) and the Member of the Governing Council, National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA).
He is also an author/publisher of 8 Technical Books on Basic Wood Technology and practical wood working training programmes which blends hands-on craftsmanship with theoretical knowledge. Our Chairman has contributed as a lecturer, consultant, curriculum writer to various national vocational educational institutions such as NAITA, CHPB(Training arm of CIDA) and World University Services Canada (WUSC) and visiting lecturer at the University of Moratuwa, University of Sri Jayawardenapura.
Under his guidance, Leema Creations has grown from a small enterprise into a pioneering interior design company in Sri Lanka, known for innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship.
